Planning for Bariatric Patients
I received an e-mail from a patients' family member looking for help in locating a SPECT camera capable of accepting patients who weigh over 360 pounds (165kg). The family was told the hospital did not have access to a system capable of imaging his 480 lb. body. This got me thinking about the very narrow focus that manufacturers offer bariatric patients in the area of medical equipment.
Top 10 Equipment Innovations of the 90's
Several years ago, I sat down and made a list of what I thought were the Top 10 changes in equipment technology that had impacted facility design. I started doing planning 1990, so the list was basically a Top 10 Innovations of the 90's. As I start to ponder my list for 2000 - 2010, I thought I'd re-publish this one and see if anyone remembers seeing these changes affect their projects during design or construction.
